The Philip Rubin Collection

Preserving Popular Culture

Below are some highlights from the collection of Philip Rubin. For most of my life, I have enjoyed, and sometimes collected (some would say hoarded), publications, toys, games, art, and other items related to popular culture, mostly from the 1950s to the present. The collection has grown over time and portions of it will eventually be transferred (not sold) to a private foundation with the goal of the various collections being donated to museums or other organizations so that they can be cared for and possibly displayed publicly. This site is intended to preserve the history of these items and, in some cases, provide a little background or context.

As a teaser, we start the project with the beginnings of the following:

Underground (and illustration) Art
